Pop-out Easter Decoration

Here’s a really great Easter decoration for you to try your hand at making.
Here are the materials you will need for this project:

  • Colorful fabric (for the eggs)
  • Cardboard
  • Pens
  • Natural colored yarn (for the handle)
  • T-shirt scraps
  • A rag
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Sewing machine
  • Construction paper (to be the base of your picture)
  • Glitter (optional)
  • White or clear glue (for applying glitter if you use it)

First, get your cardboard and scissors to cut out three egg shapes (or as many as you would like).  Now get your very colorful fabric and use it to cover the eggs.  Use your glue gun to attach the fabric to the eggs.

I got my inspiration for the basket from this blog post about how to make your own rug from old t-shirts. Follow her instructions, but first cut your rag into the shape of a basket.  Now, grab your sewing machine and sew, sew, sew!!

Now that you’ve finished the basket, get your naturally colored yarn and braid it to make the handle for the basket.

Be sure to check to make sure your braid is long enough.

Now it’s time to get your construction paper and start gluing everything on to it with the glue gun.

First, glue your eggs on and then get your basket and glue it on so it’s slightly on top if the bottom of the eggs.  Then get your braided basket handle and glue that on.

Get your cardboard out again and cut out a small rectangle.  Then write a message like “HAPPY EASTER!!!!” on the rectangle.  Glue that on top of the eggs.

Now here comes the fun part. (You don’t have to do this, but I personally think that you should!) Use your glitter and regular glue to just COVER your picture.  That will make it VERY unique!

I hope you have a lot of fun pouring glitter on everything!  And be sure to put your picture in a place where everyone is sure to see it!
